This week our double take becomes more of a quadruple take, and we line up four of the homeliest “HOME” cushions on the market. The charmingly folksy Home cushion has been adorning sofas for decades, but seems to be making a real resurgence this season. And while you’d think that most cushions would come at fairly reasonable price points, it turns out some are certainly more padded than others!

At £31, this Home Cushion in camel from Bouf tops the price tag pyramid. Measuring 30x45cm and made from cotton, we love the country chic details of the stars in the letters and the clean, simple lines. Bouf is a real Homes & Bargains favourite for its clearances and other splurge items, but at £31 this cushion still falls a bit flat.

For those who want something a little more quirky, a little more kitsch, the Kirstie Allsop Agnes Cushion from Next features lovely appliqué and embroidery. Also made of cotton, the satin of the stitch gives it a bit of extra polish. The cushion measures 30x50cm, and though we rate it for its playful design, it’s still an investment at £22.

ASDA’s version of the Home cushion is a big money saver at only £9.47, but what you save in cash you sacrifice in style. It’s the largest on our list, at 40x50cm, and is made from grey wool felt, meaning it’s not quite as cuddly as its cotton counterparts. The upside is that it’s machine washable, so those worried about stains could consider this as a bargain buy.

Finally, Wilko’s Home cushion combines the best of both worlds: the hand crafted look of stitching from high street versions, at a price tag of only £6! We love the individual patterns on each letter of the polycotton cushion, and at 30x45cm it’s a nice size for sofas or beds. With such a combination of style and savings, it goes above and beyond its competitors for cushioning the cost!
